Thank you for agreeing to serve as a hospital trustee. By giving your time and expertise, you are playing a crucial role in guiding an institution that is an essential asset to its community.

Recognizing the unique knowledge base required of hospital trustees, CHA created this Hospital Board Academy to provide resources and support for those serving on hospital boards.  This Toolkit was designed specifically to take into account the diverse backgrounds and talents of hospital trustees, and to recognize that for trustees, time is an especially scarce resource.

This Toolkit can be used in two ways:

• Reference Library: All materials within the Toolkit are organized by topic and can be accessed using the menu on the left.  This is meant to be used as a reference library, allowing easy look-up of information based on the current needs of individual trustees.

• Online Curriculum: Trustees are invited to make use of the online interactive curriculum, which is accessible through the menu on the left, and using the icon on the right.  The curriculum provides a pathway through this collection of materials, building trustees’ knowledge base in a logical fashion as they proceed through the information. 

It is important to note that not all materials in the reference library have been incorporated into the curriculum.  If a particular need arises, trustees are urged to browse the library.
