NEONI Northeast Ohio Nursing Initiative
Empowering, Strengthening and Growing the
Northeast Ohio Healthcare Workforce
In 2000, when it became apparent there was something different about the looming healthcare workforce shortage than shortages in the past, the Northeast Ohio Nursing Initiative (NEONI) was formed by hospital workforce experts at The Center for Health Affairs, Northeast Ohio’s hospital trade association.
Today, NEONI’s membership is a collaboration of hospitals, long-term care facilities, home health organizations, schools of nursing, professional nursing associations and individuals interested in the future of the nursing workforce.
NEONI’s mission is to create and sustain a strong professional nursing workforce in Northeast Ohio by attracting individuals to the profession, facilitating nursing education and increasing public understanding of nursing.
NEONI’s strength lies in its ability to bring clinical agencies, educators, organizations and individuals together to address and seek solutions to healthcare workforce issues in Northeast Ohio.
Because of the size and commitment from its stakeholder group, NEONI has been able to make a considerable impact on the recruitment of nurses and allied health professionals.
